IN THE BUBBLE–The Trance of Sex Addiction

Caught in the trance of sex addiction

In The Bubble is a  documentary film about sex addiction–its effects on the lives of addicts and those around them. The film will present a balanced view of sex addiction and demonstrate it is rooted in severe emotional pain–not excessive hedonism. It will inform and alert the audience of the range of symptoms and potential consequences of sex addiction. The film will aim to encourage and enable those affected, or think they may be, to take positive action and seek help and prevent the pain sex addiction causes.

TELL US YOUR STORY

If you have a story of your own sex addiction, are in recovery, and ready to share this story, we’d like to speak with you.  We want to hear from sex addicts and their families, friends, co-workers, bosses, staff or anyone who is or has been affected by sex addiction. We’re not talking about people who enjoy sexual activity or who are frequently sexual; we’re looking to tell the stories of lives that have gone haywire as a result of compulsive sexual activity.  As varied as we are as individuals, the symptoms and behaviors of sex addicts can vary just as widely–from internet pornography, to use of sex-trade workers, affairs, anonymous sex, cybersex, cruising… The list could go on and on.

If you’re ready to share your story, we’d love to hear from you.  Please contact the filmmaker at “yourstories[at]inthebubblemovie[dot]com

Among professionals there’s some disagreement whether sex addiction is actually a disease. The film will provide comments and information on both sides. But whether a disease or not, it is an affliction with consquences including jails, lost jobs, marriages and families, disease and even death. The film will aim to present a balanced picture of sex addiction, demonstrating it is neither a moral issue or excessive hedonism. We will see how those who are addicted to sex lose themselves in a world of fantasy in which behaviours become rituals and friends and family become obstacles in what often becomes a double life.

Yet this is a movie about hope. A film documenting the experiences of addicts who continue to struggle with the addiction and those that have found recovery and are rebuilding their lives. Our goal is to bring greater understanding of sex addiction to those suffering with it and those affected by the addicts behavior–an awareness that recovery is possible and encouragement to seek help.
